The Loved One
Artist Statement
I tend to make thick brush strokes, often using oil mixed with wax to build texture, speed drying time, achieve translucencies, and gain the ability to scratch the surface to reveal lower layers of color.
I’m most drawn to compositions where the subject is depicted from unusual vantage points and where surprises emerge from shadows and reflections, providing multiple points of view of the subject and creating a distilled and abstracted image.
